Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Despite the early afternoon rain, this year's Art in Bayfront Park was alive and well Saturday.

More than 100 artists from across the country flocked to Bayfront Park in Duluth to connect with artistically inclined locals. This was the fifth annual in Bayfront Park.

The event attracted more than 23,000 attendees last year. Event organizers say this year's event attracted even more attendees.

Director Debora Bernick says proceeds from this art festival will go towards giving art supplies to Duluth public schools.

"Kids are four times more likely to be successful in their academics if they take art," said Bernick, "and this year volunteers are helping us get this thing going so we can contribute to the Duluth schools art departments."

Organizers say they're looking forward to more events like this one in the future.
