Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Discussion of the Annexation of portions of Midway Township by the city of Duluth continues.

Right now Duluth owns 20 percent of the land in the township.

The city wants to set up an orderly annexation agreement to protect those areas.

Midway agrees Duluth can annex parts of the township at its discretion.

The city is interested in the land because of it's location next to highway 35, providing a nice corridor into the city.

"This is an area a lot of people hike in, this is a place where people are actually looking to do mountain bike trails through, and people don't realize it but it's actually in midway township. So it makes sense for us to actually...Since we own the land how about we actually have the land as well," said City Council President Dan Hartman.

Council members will discuss whether to approve an orderly Annexation Agreement with Midway at their meeting on Monday.
