Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - ATVs could soon be back on city trails after a vote by the Duluth City Council on Monday.

Councilors passed a resolution requesting the Parks and Recreation department to review the feasibility of allowing ATV users within city limits.

Councilor Jay Fosle, author of the resolution, says the city needs to consider all recreational activities within the city and not cater to specific groups.

ATV enthusiasts expressed their support allowing use in city limits.

"A number of us have looked at different areas within the city of Duluth that would lower grades, things that would be very advantageous and would make a real nice ATV trail. Let's face it, I drive thousands of miles every year to destinations to ride my ATV and there are no places no where near as beautiful as the City of Duluth." said ATV supporter.

The city banned ATV use back in 2004.

With Monday's approval, the Parks and Rec department will look at possible options for ATV specific trails west of Cody Street in Duluth.

The council will follow up on the issue in early 2014.
