Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - More than 50 cyclists gathered at the front steps of Duluth City Hall today for the second annual Mayor's Bike Ride.
The event is part of National Bike to Work Day...a day set aside to show how biking is not only good for your health but saves on gas as well.
Those who participated say biking to work is a feasible alternative for many.
Mayor Ness said while Duluth has its challenges for bikers its also a great city for biking.
"Duluth is definitely a bike community. There are challenges with the hill and the weather, but you know, we have a lot of hearty folks that are willing to work and fight though those challenges and commit to a healthy lifestyle," Duluth Mayor Don Ness, said.
"This is a community affair. I'm just so proud of Duluth," Retired Congressmen Jim Oberstar, said.
The two mile bike ride ended at Valentini's for a luncheon to discuss bike issues in Duluth.
