Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Duluth's OmniMax theater will be forced to close due to poor ticket sales owing to a lack of interest.
DECC officials announced the closure Monday night at the Duluth City Council meeting, saying they wouldn't be renewing the theater's lease of its multi-million dollar Imax Projection System.
City Councilors then asked for a postmortem assessment of what went wrong.
The explanation was everything from low ticket sales to competition from H-D videos, to expensive maintenance fees.
The theater will host its final performance sometime in April, although officials don't know exactly when.
After that, the landmark theater will be up for sale to the highest bidder.
