VIRGINIA, MN (Northland's Newscenter)---The 911 Midway Dispatch Center in Virginia will soon close and become consolidated with the Duluth dispatch center at the Joint Public Safety Building in Duluth.

The changes are expected to be implemented by the start of November.

According to a memo sent by the Consolidation Board, the Duluth center was the only facility identified with the ability to host a regional dispatch center.

The consolidation is expected to save more than $700 thousand dollars in infrastructure upgrades alone.

All current employees of the 911 communications division in Virginia will be given the opportunity to work at the Duluth center.

Full time employees may remain at full time status.

A user board meeting to further discuss these changes will be held Thursday morning in the Fayal town hall.
