Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Each woman shared her challenge, complete with its share of successes and slip ups, at the Go Red for Women luncheon at the DECC in Duluth.

The event was emceed by KBJR's own Michelle Lee.

For challenger Katie Kaylor, who lost 53 pounds and cut her cholesterol numbers in half, the challenge was particularly emotional.

Kaylor lost her father to heart–related issues in September.

"A friend told me the other day she pictures my dad sitting on a cloud, dangling his feet, smiling down at me, and I 100% believe that he's with me. He's been my motivator—he's been behind me telling me to get on that treadmill and go," said Kaylor, fighting back tears during the event.

Congratulations, Katie.

Heart disease and stroke are still the leading cause of death for women in the US.
