St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Minnesota made history Tuesday, becoming the 12th state to legalize same-sex marriage with Governor Mark Dayton's signature on the Marriage Equality bill.
Gov. Dayton signed the bill at 5pm on the steps of the Capitol surrounded by cheering spectators and fellow lawmakers who helped to pass the bill through the legislature.
The Governor's signature came just one day after the Senate approved the bill on a 37 to 30 vote.
Marriage between couples of the same sex will become available starting August 1st.
