St Paul, MN (Northland's Newscenter) - The twister hit last Sunday afternoon and devastated parts of Hennepin and Anoka counties.

Preliminary damage assessments showed more than $16 million in costs and damages.

At least two people were killed and two dozen were injured when the tornado hit North Minneapolis nearly a week ago.

If the President declares a major disaster and Public Assistance is approved the Federal Emergency Management Agency will fund 75 percent of the approved costs which could help take care of things like debris removal, and repair or replacement of damaged public facilities.
