Duluth, MN - (Northland's NewsCenter) - The Lakeview Christian Academy Boys Basketball team is writing one for their history books as they take their team to state for the first time.

No other sports team has ever gone to state in the school's history...making this a monumental event for not only the team, but the entire school.

Classmates held a pep-rally and lined the hallways to send the team off this morning.

Senior Center, Luke Borchardt, says the team has worked really hard to get to this point and says they are looking forward to playing at state.

"It's such an honor to be the first Lakeview team to make it there, everyone is so excited, especially because of that, and it's just a great experience," Borchardt says.

Lakeview's record up till this point for the year is 24-5.
The boys will play the #1 seed, undefeated Belgrade B-E on Thursday.
