Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Hundreds of neighbors will be coming together this weekend for the annual Jefferson Street Block Party hosted by Loaves and Fishes.

Loaves and fishes operates three homes in Duluth for homeless people- offering them more of a home feel than a shelter.

The block party is a neighborhood tradition that was started more than 20 years ago by Angie Miller and Steve O'Neill.

This year's gathering will be bittersweet with the recent loss of O'Neil.

"The best way to honor Steve is to keep doing the good work that he did and Steve was all about making sure that there was fun involved and really hard work for social change. So the block party is really that celebration of the community we are working to better," said Courtney Cochran, a Loaves and Fishes Volunteer.

The block party will kick off at two on Saturday on the 1600 block of Jefferson Street in Duluth.

The event is free and open to the public.
