Louisiana Pacific in Two Harbors is temporarily closed.

The residential wood siding company is undergoing a $6 million upgrade with some financial help from Lake County.

The County Board voted to contribute about one million dollars saying L–P plays an active and positive role in the community.

"They buy our stumpage, they provide good jobs as far as benefits and wages and pensions. They are a very good steward of our community. They participate in fundraising and are very generous," says Lake County Commissioner Brad Jones.

The Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board also contributed to the LP upgrade.

Louisiana Pacific plans to upgrade its transportation and electrical systems plus purchase a new press to convert aspen wood chips into home siding.
