(Northland's NewsCenter)--The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is moving forward with plans to beef up enforcement rules for power and taconite processing plants.

The agency voted Tuesday to submit its new control strategies to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Changes will allow power plants to follow less restrictive emission limits while creating new taconite plant emission limits.

A final approval from the federal EPA on most of the changes is expected in May.
