Bayfield, WI (NNCNOW.com) - An escaped inmate from the McNaughton Correctional Center in Lake Tomahwak, WI was taken into custody in Florida, according to an update Saturday from the Bayfield County Sheriff's Department.

Earlier this week, authorities in Wisconsin tracked 54-year-old Todd Brecht from Oneida County to Bayfield.

Brecht was serving a life sentence for first degree murder and was last seen on Tuesday at his job near the prison.

On Thursday, authorities said Brecht headed to Bayfield where they believe he was dropped off at an address just outside the city, nearly 130 miles north of the prison.

"The department of criminal investigation has basically confirmed that, that address has no knowledge of that individual or his whereabouts," said Bayfield Police Chief John Fangman.

Brecht was serving time for first degree murder in the shooting of his brother-in-law in 1986.
