Superior, WI (NNCNOW.coM) --- Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen says his city is committed to ending domestic violence.
Advocates from Superior's Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse along with District Attorney Dan Blank were on hand to speak about the importance of domestic violence awareness.
Blank says every year there are three hundred domestic violence cases filed in Douglas County.. something he calls a negative impressive statistic.
Superior Police Officer Bonnie Beste says that it is up all of us to help survivors of domestic violence and hold those accountable who commit the crime.
"We all need to be involved in being part of the solution to end violence. Being here for the proclamation is one part of that. We need to engage family and friends and members of the community to not stand by when you see violence," said Beste.
October is recognized nationally as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
