Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth Mayor Don Ness rolled up his sleeves Wednesday afternoon to help make one city park a cleaner place to play.

The "Cleaning and Greening" event paired the Mayor with Girl Scout Brownie Troop 41-53 to pick up trash and beautify Memorial Park in West Duluth.

The Mayor says this event is the perfect way to get the community involved in making Duluth a more enjoyable city to visit and live in.

"We need community members to step-up, take some ownership and personal pride in their neighborhood and neighborhood parks and do some cleaning, so that we can enjoy the summer and enjoy the natural beauty that Duluth has to offer," said Mayor Don Ness.

Following the cleanup at Memorial Park the Mayor headed to the Emerald Garden in Lincoln Park to help spring clean there as well.
