Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Community members delivered their suggestions and concerns tonight about the soon to be build Multimodal Transportation Center and Northwest Passage.
Speakers from LHB Design and Mortenson Construction discussed the plans for the estimated $28.9M facility.
The companies were awarded the contracts to build the hub Monday.
Concerns regarding parking, the number of busses able to park at the transit hub, as well as ease of traffic to its main location on Michigan street topped the list of questions from community members.
"Well, I think parking is really important for downtown Duluth and the lake walk area and the DECC area. And I like the addition of the bike lanes," Cheryl Wasmund, a community member, said.
"I think it's relay going to be trying to design and meet the needs of the community and the perceptions of the community with the budget," William Bennett, LHB Design, CEO, said.
The center is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2015 and when it does, some of those utilizing its services look forward to growth within the city.
