Northwest, WI (Northlands NewsCenter) - A Wisconsin state lawmaker has introduced a bill that would compensate farmers if their animals are attacked by cougars.

State Representative Amy Sue Vruwink says under the "Milladore Democrat's bill," farmers would be compensated if livestock are killed by cougars.

There have been several sightings of cougars across Minnesota and Wisconsin lately. Trail cameras in Juneau County recently snapped a picture of a cougar in that area and just last week, an eight year old girl in Rice Lake Township believes she was stalked by a big cat as she headed to her school bus stop.
