Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Another year has almost come and gone, and throughout the Northland it seems that everyone is gearing up for the festivities.
"We put on one heck of a party here at Clyde," said Mike Ohara, General Manager of Clyde Iron Works in Duluth.
At Clyde Iron, crews are currently setting up for an end of the year celebration that's sure to keep people entertained.
The Clyde Iron Works New Year's Eve Countdown will feature everything—from DJ's from Minneapolis's claimed 1st avenue, to sushi, to plenty of dancing space.
"People want to go out now and maybe not go to 4 or 5 different places like they used to. They want to have one place where they can get crazy, or sit down and relax," said Ohara.
Ohara said last year's attendance was no small number.
"We had about 800 people here last year—during a snowstorm."
Across the bridge in Superior, workers at the Barker's Island Inn and Resort are expecting a grand turnout, as well. Saturday evening the Inn will host the "Dance to end Abuse"—a silent auction and fund-raising event for CASDA—or the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse.
Laura Gapske of CASDA said it's this fact that makes the event unique.
"Because we are an agency that does a lot of really good work in our community, that will be a different reason for people to come. They want to give back to their community, they support CASDA and their mission," said Gapske.
For those looking to start their New Year as early as possible, then Beaner's will be the place to be Saturday morning. The coffeehouse will open its doors bright an early at seven in the morning for its "All Day Music Bash," featuring over 20 local music groups.
According to Beaner's Owner Jasson Wussow, the event is aimed to celebrate the New Year, along with the Northland's diverse musical talent.
"There's so many amazing bands, that it's really amazingly easy to find 24 great acts that want to play," said Wussow.
And that's not all. Here's a list of additional events taking place throughout the Northland:
