Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A Northland church came together to celebrate the life and mission of Martin Luther King Jr.

The Church of Restoration in Duluth and the Martin Luther King Holiday Committee organized a special worship service this evening for people of all faiths and traditions.

Organizers say the gathering is intended to bring people from different backgrounds together to build long–lasting relationships. It's an effort that organizers say was essential to Dr. King's mission.

"This is about bringing communities together, bringing churches together, bringing families together, all in the name of Dr. King, because that's his legacy," said organizer Gabriel Green, "It's what his legacy is about."

Green says that each year a different church hosts the event.
