Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A Northland church is taking steps to make sure the widespread flu doesn't spread any further through their congregation.

The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Duluth is holding off on the hand shaking that normally takes place during a traditional Catholic mass. They're also asking that parishioners use their best judgment before drinking from the shared communion cup.

Priests say with many of their parishioners sick, every little step towards staying healthy is a good one.

"There's going to be contact, but it's one step to do one thing that I think could help," said Father Peter Muhich.

This isn't the first time the church has taken precautions against the flu. A parishioner, who happens to be a doctor, suggested the idea awhile back.
