Baikonur, Kazakhstan (NNCNOW.com) - A rocket is on its way into space with a special cargo load.

The Olympic Torch.

The rocket and its crew, which launched Wednesday night, will carry the torch to the International Space Station.

Two Russian Cosmonauts will take it for a spacewalk on Saturday.

This isn't the first trip to space for the torch. It traveled to space in 1996 on board the Shuttle Atlantis, but it has never been taken outside a spacecraft.

The opening ceremony for the 2014 Sochi Olympics takes place on February 7th.

You can watch the games on KBJR 6 & Range 11.
