Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.COM)
It was the 56th Pancake Day down at the DECC....The lions club and its hundreds of volunteers are geared up to serve thousands.
The fun and festivities are for a good cause. All proceeds earned today will go to those struggling diabetes, hearing and sight problems within the community.
Last year's event used raised 65 – thousand dollars.
Pancake day has become a community tradition, bringing Duluthians together to catch up with loved ones and fill up on pancakes.
"It's coming down and seeing all your friends and family. Some of these people you only see them once a year and it's here," says Barb Trowski, 2013 Chair of Pancake Day.
Not only are they serving up pancakes with all the toppings but the DECC is also providing patrons with free parking. The event goes on until 8 o' clock.
A fun fact...workers at the first pancake day 56 years ago mixed the batter in garbage cans using canoe paddles.
