Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) If you've driven on just about any roads in the Northland this winter you've probably noticed it's a very bad year for potholes.
Experts say a combination of heavy snowfalls, unseasonable rains and rapid freezing have resulted in the worst road conditions many have seen in years.

We've heard from many of you about the serious damage these potholes are causing to vehicles so we decided to see if there were anything that could be done.
We begin with the streets of Superior.

((nat car hitting pothole)))

It's bone jarring...teeth crunching...and as bad as it is for you, it can be even worse for your car.

:19 Every day I drive down Belknap here and I take a right on this road heading into work at UWS and I, more or less, hit that pothole every day. And I drive an older car and I got to replace my struts now cause I drive over this stupid pothole every day. :33

Nick Garramone works at the University of Wisconsin Superior. He tries to avoid the worst streets but says it's nearly impossible to find a street that doesn't have potholes. He was one of several people who brought their pothole complaints to the Northland's News Center to see if there were anything we could do to help. So we went out to look for ourselves.

2:03 As our pothole patrollers report in we've had a lot of complaints about potholes in the streets of Superior. One in particular, that drew a lot of attention, was here at the intersection of Belknap and Grand. We decided to come out and try to take a measurement of just what we're looking at here, so if we start at this end of the pothole and measure all the way across to really where the pothole ends, this is a monstrous pothole, looks to be about oh,(almost 7–and–a–half feet...88– 89 inches)85 inches from that side to this side. That's a lot of pothole to try to get across. As you can see a lot of cars, they can't get around it they have to go through this pothole. So we're going to take it to the city administration in Superior and see what they can do about this pothole. 2:52

1:53 I think the action should be to fill these potholes as soon as possible. The damage to vehicles and even the safety on the road with drivers trying to veer these potholes can create potential car accidents. 2:11

It seems a reasonable request. We'll see what can be done. In Superior, Barbara Reyelts, the Northland's News Center.

WE TAKE your concerns to Superior city hall THIS EVENING.
In the meantime, if you want to tell us where you feel the potholes are the "worst"....report it on the pothole patrol link.
