It was recently revealed that the Saint Louis County Sheriffs Department has decided to end a bed renting agreement with the Douglas County Jail over concerns about inmate safety and operational protocols at the jail.

Last year Douglas County received more than 250-thousand dollars from the Saint Louis County Sheriffs department for housing prisoners that they don't have room for.

According to Saint Louis County Sheriff Ross Littman the sheriffs department has terminated that deal after concerns arose about prisoner safety including an attack on David Lovshin, a sex offender, by accused murderer Stephen Cobenais.

Douglas County Sheriff Tom Dalbec says the loss of revenue from Saint Louis County was partially covered by the State of Wisconsin who had been asking for additional beds from the County.

Sheriff Littman and Douglas County Sheriff Tom Dalbec met last week to try and resolve their issues and both are hopeful a new agreement can be forged.
