Self Discovery Adventures is a new outdoor touring company in Duluth that says, "no gear, no problem.

The one month old company offers guided trips in kayaking, canoeing, biking and hiking.

"All of our trips are that all inclusive package. That idea that we'll pick you up; we'll take care of everything; you don't need anything with you," says Andrea Gordon, President and founder of Self Discovery Adventure.

"They're great beginner boats for the clientel that we bring out into the water," says employee Kris McNeal.

Gordon shares her journey that brought the company to life.

"I was working as an outdoor educator and traveling around the country guiding trips and other places, mostly in the southwest and some family stuff brought me back home to Duluth.
I grew up here and decide I wanted to bring my career of outdoor education back to Duluth."

Gordon decided to turn the idea into reality after a family tragedy showed her how therapeutic the lake could be.

"I found Lake Superior to be incredibly healing. To be a place that helps you stop and think and remember what's important," she says.

The team offers a step by step instructional before that even the not–so–outdoorsy can understand.

And the smooth side with the writing on it, that's called the power face and it's always going to be facing you," says McNeal.

But the real fun begins when you hit the water.

"I think just being on Lake Superior in general can be a changing experience for people," Gordon adds.

The trips starts with an ice breaker, but ends with a group united by experience...

"It was more than just a kayaking experience," says Stephen Gross, intern at Self Discovery Adventures.
