Silver Bay, MN (Northland's NewsCenter)---A one of a kind greenhouse, designed to produce sustainable food is officially open in Silver Bay.
The city hosted a grand opening celebration for its Bio-fuel and Food Green House.
City officials say the green house will grow and harvest fish and vegetables using a sustainable farming system called Aquaponics.
Inside the 10,000 square foot green house is an elaborate maze of tubing, connecting troughs and large containers of water.
The Aquaponics system uses waste from fish to fertilize vegetable plants.
A Bay Days Celebration parade preceded Sunday's grand opening celebration.
Our very own Michelle Lee was a judge at the parade.
