Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The National History Day in Minnesota regional competitions were underway Saturday.
The Northeast division was held at UMD. The competition included students showing their skills to judges in hopes of making it to the state competition.
Organizers say the competition attracts a lot of students.
"What attracts a lot of people to History Day is not only does it fit with the state standards, [it's] more of a rigorous process than just regurgitating facts. You're forced to make an argument and back up that argument with facts and research and it kind of prepares them for what they'll probably be doing in college," said Rachel Hernandez with the Minnesota Historical Society.
The state competition will be held on May 4th.
