There is no way you can resist the Christmas tradition that is the Christmas cookie.
The Christmas cookie has a long history in cultures around the world.
The first record of Christmas cookies is in England with the gingerbread cookie. The Queen of England would have her staff make ginger bread people and decorate them to look like her holiday guests, says Robin Rinke of the Lighthouse of Superior.
Animal crackers are also rich in holiday tradition. The polish people would make large cookies in the shape of different animals. The cookies provided for a fortune telling game where each animal represented a different fortune.
In Holland, Robin says, they were the first to celebrate Christmas with the sugar cookie.
And lastly, she says, the most popular cookie to leave out for Santa is the Oreo.
