Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - He may not be a rock star, but Thomas the Tank Engine is attracting a record numbers of visitors to Duluth this summer.

Families are all aboard the Mystery on the Rails tour. The Day out with Thomas includes a 25 minute train ride, storytelling and live music.

Tourism officials say families are coming in from across the Midwest to see Thomas, and that Duluth's lodging is nearly 100–percent booked this weekend.

According to Gene Shaw of Visit Duluth, Thomas is one big part of a myriad of attractions that are bringing people into Duluth.

"We had concerts last weekend, we have Blues Fest coming up, so we're, right now—from a visitor's standpoint—we're right back on track, and where we are every year," said Shaw.

Trains depart from the North Shore Scenic Railroad every hour this weekend, starting at 9:00 a.m.
