Three injured after two cars catch fire in accident on Iron Range

Iron Junction, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Three people, including one child, were rushed to area hospitals Friday night after a two–car crash on the Iron Range led to both vehicles catching fire.

According to Lieutenant Edward Kippley of the St. Louis County Sheriff's office, the accident occurred just after eight at the intersection of Admiral Road and Iron Junction Road in Clinton Township.

28–year–old Rebeka Carter of Iron Junction was air lifted from the scene to Saint Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

An 8–year–old girl was initially transported by ambulance to University Medical Center Mesabi, in Hibbing, before being airlifted to Saint Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

A 17–year–old boy was also taken by ambulance to the University Medical Center Mesabi.

Calls to the hospitals on their current condition were not returned by news time.

The accident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's office and Minnesota State Patrol.
