The price of gas has been like a roller coaster over the past few months.

In this week's "Your Green Life" Meteorologist Jeff Edmondson takes a test drive with a few new cars which promise better gas mileage.

With the summer driving season around the corner and gas prices close to four dollars a gallon it may be time to consider getting rid of the gas guzzler for something a little greener.
Ford's 2012 Line of cars offers the new redesigned Focus which can get exceptional gas mileage.

"This car is paired with a six speed automatic transmission will get up to 45 miles per gallon on the highway, very good gas mileage. It's a nice car with a decent sized backseat", said Josh Mourin with Northstar Ford.

The Focus just uses a traditional gas engine without the assistance of a battery pack. In addition, driving a smaller car does not necessarily mean a sacrifice in safety; the 2012 Focus received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's top safety pick for new cars.

The Nissan Juke could also be a good choice if you're looking for something larger without wanting to sacrifice gas mileage. It gets a decent 32mpg on the highway.

The Juke is also a top safety pick by the I.I.H.S for new cars.

"It's for somebody who wants a smaller SUV, the ride is phenomenal, the fuel economy is phenomenal on that too", said Tom Sephar with Krenzen Honda.

But what about sports cars? Typically you wouldn't think a sports car would get great gas mileage, and most don't, but this Honda may change your thinking.

The Honda CRZ gets 39mpg on the highway and since it's a sports car it also has the performance that you would expect from it. The Hybrid mode actually helps you accelerate and gives you better performance.

There are three modes in which the CRZ can drive... ECO, Normal and Sport. Each mode will change the dash and handling of the car to offer regenerative braking to put more friction on the car to recharge the battery.
