Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Two garage fires in the last week add to the string of arson fires in Duluth in the last year.
The first fire, which happened on June 28th on 58th avenue West has been deemed arson.
The blaze caused an estimated $20,000 in damage...and the garage is considered a total loss.
A second confirmed arson fire was set Wednesday morning on West 5th Street.
That blaze caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to the two-car garage and one vehicle.
Assistant Fire Chief Erik Simonson says there is generally a spike in arson fires in the summer, but that these two don't seem to be related.
"The only thing they have in common is that they are both garages and their both arson fires. They have nothing else in common in terms of location or anything unique about the two different fires," said Simonson.
Both fires are still being investigated by the Fire Marshall's Office.
