Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) - A water main rupture on Thursday afternoon made downtown Minneapolis look similar to Downtown Duluth on New Year's Day.

According to KARE 11, United Sewer and Water was reportedly doing work on a water line at the site of an apartment project around 2:30 p.m. Thursday when workers hit the 36 inch line.

Police say a parking garage and the basement of the Federal Reserve building flooded.

Water was shut off to nearby businesses and residents.
