Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - Hundreds of workers in Duluth are being recruited by a national company to help clean up areas damaged by the flood.
The event was held by a company called Command Center, which recruits and then places workers at locations that need them. It was located at the Minnesota Workforce Center.
"What we're really looking to do is gather a pool of people that are available at a moment's notice to serve our clientele as the orders come in to do flood clean up," said Command Center Vice-President, Kevin Semerad.
Cassy Vegar was one of many that showed up to interview for a position.
She's been out of work for weeks. She said that the temporary job is an opportunity for her to give back to the community and get paid.
"Giving back to the community in our town [feels good]," she said, "And it will help me by getting paid for it."
There will be another hiring event held Monday from noon to 4 p.m. It will also be held at the Minnesota Work Force Center.
