Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) - The 9th Annual Women of Distinction award ceremony recognized Mary Asmus, Kris Ridgewell, and Tonya Sconiers for their commitment and contributions to Duluth as women leaders.

Jodi Broadwell was also recognized for her commitment to the community as an emerging leader.

According to YWCA Executive Director, Ellen O'Neill, the ceremony pays tribute to the ways women have shaped the Northland since the founding of the Aftenro Care Center over 100 years ago.

"It's an opportunity for us to really highlight that, and to say, 'women are an important part of our community, they've been leaders forever, and we're here to celebrate some that are leaders today,'" said O'Neill.

Donations gathered at today's fundraiser will go toward the Duluth Young Women's Christian Association.
