Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - We've got warm and moist air pushing in from the south and a warm front forming over the region. This along with a jetstream aloft all aids in producing hefty thunderstorms.
I expect these thunderstorms to last into the evening for Northern Wisconsin. My weather watcher in Gordon, WI has reported 5" of rain already and they've been adding to that total as the evening progresses.
Hail is a threat with these storms as well. From nickel to quarter size is possible. Winds will be around 40-60mph with these storms.
Later into the night we have another round of severe weather with soaking rains, hail and wind for NE MN. We'll be watching the Brainerd Lakes region for another conglomerate of storms to push eastward into the region.
Remember your flood safety with these storms! If you see a road that is covered in water please do not try to cross it. It could be washed out underneath and it only takes 6" of water to knock you off your feet and 1ft to float a car.
I will continue to update you on the storms as more information is available.
