Northlanders Advised Not to Travel During Snow Storm

February 28, 2012 Updated Feb 28, 2012 at 6:08 PM CST

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- As crews in Duluth prepare for the upcoming snow storm that is set to hit around 10pm tonight, Twin Ports residents are advised not to travel during the snow storm.

Crews are on special alert tonight as the Northland's first snow storm makes its way into our area, bringing about 14 inches to some areas.

Crews will be out during and after the snow storm to keep our roadways clear and free of snow and ice. However, snow removal crews may be called back if conditions are too dangerous for them to be traveling in, such as a white out.

People who travel on the Aerial Lift Bridge and those who live in Park Point should be cautioned that roadways into Park Point and the bridge could be closed depending on the snow fall amounts.

The city of Duluth also asks residents to remember that it is illegal to remove snow from your property and place it in city streets and
alleys.

When it comes to parking on the streets, remember to park within 12 inches on the curb and be parked no closer than 7 feet to an alley or driveway.

Stay tuned tonight on KBJR 6, KDLH 3 and Range 11 newscasts for the latest on our snow storm, any closures in our area and road conditions.
