Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Thunderstorms could turn severe as they move throughout the Northland Thursday into Friday.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the Northland to indicate that the storms are capable of producing pea sized hail, wind gusts up to 50 mph, frequent cloud to ground lightning, and extremely heavy rainfall with some areas receiving an inch of rain per hour.

As these storms move through the area, seek shelter in a sturdy structure and avoid windows. Stay away from high objects outdoors such as trees.

If you have pictures of the storms in your area, you can send them to producer@kbjr.com.
