Rockin' It For Fun (RIFF) invests in under-priviledged children by teaching them to play the guitar. Once a month, for an hour, children learn the basics of guitar in small groups of 2-5 children per teacher. Children who do not have a guitar are given one. The children learn songs which they play at a recital with a live band at the end of the school year. Children who show great interest and improvement--but whose parents have little financial resources--receive a scholarship to pursue more guitar training. Local artists donate their time and talent by decoarting the guitars.
Riff is a semi-finalist for the pepsi refresh grant program in the month of November. The top ten ideas that receive the most votes, will get the grant money for their project. Riff is looking for support and votes from the local community.
