7:00 opening morning for Wisconsin rifle season

9 point Buck Opening Morning at 7:00 am

Ever since I was a kid, I have been hunting at our shack on our 40 acres of land in Patzau, WI. I have shot three deer out of my deer stand since i have been carrying a gun. My fourth deer I got opening morning at 7:00 am. I heard a rustling from my left side and there stood this buck with a very large rack (I would later find out it as a 9 point with a 19 1/2" spread). He spotted me and watched me for a good 10 minutes, with neither of us moving. He ducked his head behind behind a tree and gave me a chance to get my gun up. He instantly put his eyes back on me. I took my only shot and took him down in his tracks. After getting out of my stand in a hurry, I made sure that he wasn't going anywhere. Then I walked over to my dads stand to tell him, and have him help me with dragging. I told him I got a big 9 pointer and he congratulated me with a hug. When we got to where it was, he could not believe the size. We had the deer back to the shack and hanging by 8:30. After seeing my buck and some discussion later that night, the other guys said that after hunting there for 41 years, it was the biggest deer they have seen shot there. That made me pretty proud. After the season had come to an end and the shack total of deer being a 9 point, 8 point, and 4 doe's, I learned something new. To me hunting is not just about getting a trophy deer, or getting tons of deer. It is about enjoying time with you're dad and friends having a good time for those 9 days of deer season. But getting a nice deer does add a nice touch.
