George Clooney and Renee Zellweger visited Duluth yesterday to promote their new movie opening April 4, The Leatherheads. A few lucky fans were graced with a private audience with the celebrities before the press conference began. The stars of the Leatherheads movie entered the press conference on a train, but before the doors were opened to allow them into the museum, 8 or so people had found their way to the train yard outside the museum. Mr. Clooney and Ms. Zellweger were very gracious to withstand the cold outside and visit with a few resourcefull fans that were waiting for a glimpse at the stars. Suprisingly, when the train approached, the station doors did not open immediately. Mr. Clooney made a remark about possibly having to "ram the doors" to get in. Fortunatley for those lucky fans, the doors remained closed for about 10 minutes. During which time Mr. Clooney and Ms. Zellweger chatted about Duluth, the cold, of course, and the upcoming play at the Duluth Playhouse, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." Ms. Zellweger shared some of her new winter vocabulary picked up in Winnepeg; new terms to her such as "beardcicles", "lashcicles" and you-know-what-else-cicles. Mr. Clooney asked more than once when "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" was set to open, perhaps he will return to enjoy it with us. When the doors to the museum opened and the train began to depart, Ms. Zellwger kindly wished good luck to "Chris", an actor in the play. Mr. Clooney and Ms. Zellweger were kind and gracious, and will be well remembered by a few lucky norhtlanders who had the chance to spend a few minutes with them.
