THIRD IN TWO

A COLORADO LOW REDUCED VISIBILITIES; AND DEPOSITED A FOOT OF SNOW IN MANY LOCATIONS. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WERE WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE NORTHLAND ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14TH, 2008. THE CONDITIONS WERE SO INTENSE, THAT THE DULUTH TRANSIT AUTHORITY HAD TO SUSPEND BUS SERVICES. THE MILLER HILL MALL IN DULUTH, AND THE THUNDERBIRD MALL IN VIRGINIA WERE CLOSED EARLY. MANY SCHOOLS IN THE NORTHLAND CANCELLED CLASSED FOR MONDAY. OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS WERE RUNNING TWO HOUR DELAYS.

11.00 INCHES OF SNOW FELL IN THE RAILROADING CITY OF PROCTOR. THE ZENITH CITY RECEIVED 9.30 INCHES OF SNOW.

AFTER THE DEPARTURE OF THE BLIZZARD AND WINTER STORM CONDITIONS, DANGEROUS WINDS CHILLS BLANKETED THE NORTHLAND. WIND CHILL VALUES IN THE -40'S AND -50'S SPREAD ACROSS THE NORTHLAND LIKE BUTTER ON BREAD.

THIS IS THE THIRD BLIZZARD TO STRIKE THE TWIN PORTS AREA IN THE THREE YEARS. HENCE THE NAME, "THIRD IN TWO!"

PLEASE ENJOY A LOOK AT THE FIRST SIGNIFICANT INCLEMENT DOSING OF WINTER WEATHER......FOR THE NORTHLAND.

A CORRECTION TO REPORT......THE SECOND TO LAST PARAGRAPH SHOULD READ: "THIS IS THE THIRD BLIZZARD TO STRIKE THE TWIN PORTS AREA IN THE PAST TWO YEARS." HENCE THE NAME, "THIRD IN TWO!" I APOLOGIZE FOR THE ERROR.
