I was fortunate enough to be able to introduce Spanish / Swiss photographer and civil engineer, Rafael Rojas, to our area while he was working on his PhD at UMD over the past couple weeks. As an amateur photographer, it was an honor showing him the area; exploring both the North and South Shores respectively, as well as the Twin Ports.
As a world traveler, Rafael was amazed by the area's unique landscapes, culture, and cuisine (he especially loved the double sour cream and mushroom burger with bacon, fried onions, and blue cheese dressing from The Anchor Bar and the variety of beers at The Brewhouse). He hopes to return in the fall when he is planning a photography workshop in The Boundary Waters with stop-overs in the Twin Ports definitely in his plans.
To view some of Rafael Rojas's photography (much better than my own photos in this article), please visit his website at http://www.rafaelrojasphoto.com/ where he will be posting his photography of the area in the very near future once he gets settled back at home in Switzerland.
