Wolves on Lake Superior
Two Timber Wolves sauntered past us as we watched from the pathway at Silver Creek Cliff Sunday 3-15-09.
They were first noticed with 10X42 binoculars coming in our direction. It may have taken 15 minutes for them to pass right below us.
The distance from the top of the cliff to the wolves made for some pretty marginal photography, but still worth posting.

There are many wolves living on the St Louis River in Duluth, MN out by Smithsville near the boat landing. The Gray Wolf has lived there on the clough Island since 1990-2005. I used my binoculars to see this wolf and he was beautiful.

Thanks for the comment Paul. You might be right. We've seen a lot of Brush Wolves living in Holyoke for almost 20 years. We thought these looked considerably bigger and their ears rounder and noses wider. Either way, it was an impressive site.

Those look like coyotes/Brush Wolves and not TImber Wolves. By the slender legs and bushy tail and small face and narrow nose.

We feel the same way. That was a once in a life time event for us. We've spent a lot of time outdoors, and have never seen it before. I was wishing I had a video camera with zoom. We watched them for a long time.
