Willow River Lifesmarts Teams Takes 5th

The Willow River high school Lifesmarts team represented Minnesota in the 2009 National Lifesmarts competition in St. Louis, Missouri.

Lifesmarts is a competition where students are questioned about their knowledge in consumer rights and other areas.

The competition started Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm. Willow River took on Oklahoma and come out on the losing end 155-105. Since it is a double elimination format, the team was not done.

The 1st consolation round was held Monday morning at 9:00am. Willow River took on team from Arizona and California. This time Willow River came out on top by a score of 125-40(AZ)-35(CA). This sent Willow River on to the next round aginist Maryland.
Willow RIver took an early lead over Maryland but fell behind with one question left.

Jacob Olson answered the final question right to send Willow River to the next round, with a 100-95 victory.

Willow River hit a wall in their final round of the competition. They were defeated by Pennsylvania 95-60. Ending their tournament run at (2-2).

That is Willow River's best finish at Nationals. In 2001 they went (1-2).
