With four dogs, three of whom are special needs, there are no shortage of photo ops around here!
The first photo, of Rosalie, is especially poignant to me because when she was rescued from a puppy mill in late '05, she had lived her entire life in a wire cage. After a lifetime on a wire floor, she couldn't walk; she could only pull herself along with her front legs. Three years later -- look at her running in the park! I love this picture.
The second picture is of another puppy mill rescue, our beloved Melvie. Mel was 13 when this picture was taken, and mostly blind, but only due to advancing age. I found this great metal sign in a funky little shop, and couldn't resist hanging it on the dogs' pen during camping trips! Mellie died quietly at home earlier this year, just shy of her 116th birthday.
The final picture is of Helen Anne. She came to live with me in 2005 and has been going slowly blind due to a progressive eye disease. What a trusting, loving little soul. She is completely blind now, and her eyes are silver, but I cherish this photo because I miss her gentle brown eyes.
