Would YOU go in there?

We all have one. That part of the house where the miscellaneous "stuff" goes. Ours is in the garage. We have a long narrow room in the garage with shelves on both sides. Because of the fixed position of the shelves, there is an abundance of wasted space. Traditional shelving isn't flexible enough for what we want that space to do. We have looked at the types of garage storage systems on the market, but nothing is versatile enough to be worth spending the money. We need hanging space for hunting clothes, we need vertical storage for sports equipment (fishing poles, skis, snowboards), we need an area for large plastic storage totes and coolers and it needs to be an integrated system which lets us access everything safely. It is a maddening experience to go into that garage because you have to sidestep whatever is on the floor while you are being careful not to knock anything over that will fall on you. Navigating your garage should not make you feel like you are in a video game trying to preserve one of your lives. (Honestly, I almost stepped on a saw that must have fallen down from its perch). I don't want my garage to be an afterthought. I know that with some help it could be an organized place that I wouldn't be afraid of going into. I also want it to be a place that will be able to adapt to the needs of our growing family, because who knows what type of storage issues we will have with three teenagers? With a Lifespan Closet system, that thought is a little less frightening.
