Going Once, Going Twice

The True Value of a Sammy's Pizza

Prior to the 2008 Great River Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's fund raising banquet, I paid my favorite Sammy's manager Tony a visit. I was asking for a donation for our banquet. Tony offered us several pizza gift certificates to use. I told him if he threw in a camaflauged Sammy's Pizza hat we would do something special with it, he agreed.

The night of the banquet was filled with games and raffels, with an occasional Sammy's certificate to lucky winners. Then came the showcase event of the evening the LIVE Auction. As part of the live auction we run a smaller group of items as "KEY" items, if you are the winning bidder on a "Key" item you can choose one of five keys that may unlock a case with another prize in it. Our third "KEY" item of the night was a Sammy's Pizza and a camaflauged hat. Bidding started $10, $20, $30, $50, $75..........$150, the bidding started to slow, the acuctioneer jokingly made the statement here's your chance to buy the most expensive pizza in town, I yelled from the back it's not the most expensive, it's the BEST pizza in town. The bidding started up again $175, $200, $225 SOLD !!!! to a man from Bemidji, who said he would give it to his son for him and his friends to use, he was keeping the hat. Thanks Tony and Sammys for your support and for adding to the excitement of our Banquet. Now we know the true value of a Sammy's Pizza.
