A Sammy's start!

42 years ago, a 16 year old girl got her first job at Sammy's in West Duluth. How exciting it was to have the best pizza in the world every night at work!
One night a young man with bright blue eyes, an infectious smile, and a beautiful girl on his arm came in for a pizza. While taking their order, the young man started to flirt with the young waitress. "What a jerk!", she thought, as he continued to ignore the girl that was with him.
The next few nights, the same bright-eyed man came in alone. The waitress would have nothing to do with him at first because of his behavior while he was on a "date". But he was so darn cute and so persistent that eventually she gave in and went out with him.
That waitress was me and the young man was Ron, my husband of 40 years. That beautiful young woman was his sister Sharon and she has never let us forget how she was ignored that night!
Three kids and nine grandkids later, the story of how we met at Sammy's has been part of our family's history and has been told many times while having pizza together.

I am the other sister ( not Sharon ) and I have heard this story for 42 years .... and I never tire of hearing it. It is Romance at its' "best" with the "best-tasting" pizza in the world besides !!

I am the sister, Sharon, and I still smile at the memory of sitting there, kind of embarrased that my 'date' was ignoring me. But Nancy was also so darn cute herself, I understood that 'a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do'! And I'm so glad he did!

Great story Romelle, glad I got to hear it from you first. Way to go Ron and Nancy. Many more happy years.
